A Partnership Between Olivia Farabaugh & Malachi’s Message
The CIRS Support Fund exists to bring hope and financial assistance to US residents, who think that they are experiencing an illness known as Chronic Inflammatory Responsive Syndrome (CIRS).
What is CIRS?
Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS) is a complex illness caused by immune system dysregulation following exposure to a biotoxin producing organism. The chronic inflammation that results can lead to multiple organ system dysfunction. Patients will often present with numerous symptoms spanning a large number of body systems. Organ systems impacted by CIRS include gastrointestinal, neuro-endocrine, musculoskeletal and immune. Inflammation is initiated when the body is incapable of removing specific toxins, including biotoxins, neurotoxins and endotoxins. Once this inflammatory cascade begins, patients become chronically ill and may require extensive treatment. (Survivingmold.com)

Olivia’s Journey with CIRS
In November of 2020 I was diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome, but that was not where my health journey began. In 2016 I moved into my first apartment that unbeknownst to me, had black mold hiding in the crawlspace of the home. My health quickly started to decline, at first just feeling more tired than normal, then leading to infections I couldn’t not get over, then continuous antibiotics, then antibiotic resistance, then multiple surgeries, nothing was fixing the problem. My mom put it together that these issues only began after moving into the home. After having the home tested, we got a call on the weekend of July 4th in 2018, that we couldn’t spend one more night in the home, the levels we categorized as uninhabitable. At that moment, I didn’t know that news would change my life forever and put me on a mission to regain my health as well as fight for others in this situation.
I was told after getting out of that environment that I would see improvement, but I did not. An infectious disease doctor put me on a picc line for antibiotics, this didn’t fix the problem but did land me in the hospital with a blood clot in my arm. All of these unexplainable systems continued to occur though the doctors would tell me “your young and healthy”, everything looked good on paper. I was starting to feel hopeless that I would never regain my health until I came across the website called Survivingmold.com. As I continued to read more about CIRS, everything started to make sense. I could finally see that all of my symptoms were not random at all and in fact, I was not a hypochondriac!
Why a CIRS Fund?
A Note from Olivia
As I started sharing my story online, I started to hear more about other people going through this same thing; but their financial situation was restricting them from seeking proper help. One night I was talking with a woman online who was in the thick of it and mentally not in a good place. All I wanted to do was give her what she needed to get treatment but I was not financially able to do so. At that moment I decided I didn’t want this to happen again, there needs to be support for people going through this and one day I would start the CIRS Support Fund.
After moving to Nashville I was finally able to start planning to begin the CIRS fund. At this same time I received an email from Elizabeth from Malachi’s Message requesting an interview for Malachi’s Message podcast. We scheduled a meeting in the morning of the day that I had also scheduled to start the process of forming the CIRS Support Fund. As Elizabeth and I began talking, I started telling her about my ideas with the fund and I started hearing about their mission at Malachi’s Message. It became so clear that we needed to join forces! I couldn’t be more honored to team up with the kind hearted and passionate group at Malachi’s message to start the CIRS Support Fund. Together we can help make testing and treatment possible for all of the CIRS warriors of the world and bring help, hope and healing to those battling the effects of toxic mold exposure.
