Medical Bills Grant

Health Insurance rarely covers any costs needed to be seen, tested and treated by a medical professional that specializes in Toxic mold Illness. Could you imagine having a disease and not being able to be seen by a doctor or treated under their care? This is the reality for most that go through toxic mold. All of the founders of Malachi’s Message fought to have their children seen by specialist’s, as their children’s health was deteriorating. The panic, as not all could receive the same level of care, due to lack of finances was real and terrifying. We want to help relieve this fear for parents that need financial assistance, to have their children receive the care they need.

Home Mold Inspection Grant

The Insurance industry, in the early 2000’s, chose to either stop covering mold remediation and damage, or they have placed a limited cap for Mold coverage.Unfortunately, many people are needing to pay for the inspection out of pocket.  This is due to landlords, contractors and leasing offices either not releasing the results of a mold inspection; or due to the tenants signing clauses (in the original paperwork) that releases said entities from any liability to toxic mold. People are often in places of mental confusion and financial strain (due to medical bills, trying to fix the problem themselves etc.). Malachi’s Message Foundation wants to help ensure that if people need assistance in hiring a licensed mold inspection, they can receive that assistance.

Home Remediation Cost Grant

The Insurance industry, in the early 2000’s, chose to either stop covering mold remediation and damage, or they have placed a limited cap for Mold coverage. This decision was due to mold being such an enormous problem in homes and buildings; that the cost benefit analysis wasn’t showing profit. This reality places homeowners in a difficult financial position when they find themselves needing mold remediation. What happens when homeowners can not afford to remediate all the mold or restore their home after remediation? Some will file bankruptcy, some will live in a home partially demolished (until they can afford to restore them),and others may slash the price of their home, taking a financial loss on,  due to disclosing the presence of mold still in it in order to sell it. We hope Malachi’s assistance will help with getting homeowners the financial assistance they need to remediate their home completely and correctly, thus stopping this problem from continuing.

Toy Replacement Grant (For Minors Only)

Many victims of toxic mold have lost their homes and all of their belongings (furniture, clothing, toys, etc.); on top of drastic loss in their health. They are often living on new mattresses, with one or two new outfits, no furniture and no toys; in another home that they moved into, starting from scratch. Others can’t afford to move out and thus are stuck living in a toxic environment, knowing their children will remain ill. They don’t feel well but have to work, as they need the money now more than ever.

The loss of toys may seem minimal, but imagine already exhausting resources on medical bills, inspections, remediations or temporary living. The thought of needing to purchase new toys can be overwhelming. You have young children who lost essentially everything they know and claimed as prized possessions. The clothing needs to be new, as people are unaware of the environment that used toys would be coming from.

The thought of needing to purchase new furniture can be overwhelming. The furniture needs to be new, as people are unaware of the environment that used furniture would be coming from. It is also essential as if the toxic mold was airborne, it negatively impacted the furniture it came in contact with; which can by association negatively impact the individuals using the furniture.

All applicants who are accepted will be asked to create an Ikea registry, when assistance is available.

This fund reimburses an applicant for a deposit, first months rent etc. or helps directly pay leasing agencies/landlords ONCE a person is in a “new” dwelling place, after the toxic environment. This fund DOES NOT give the deposit upfront and it does not find a “new” dwelling space.

Temporary living is essential to the person(s) healing from toxic mold exposure.
